 Attention-grabbing introduction paragraph (1 point)
 At least 5 body paragraphs that follow the topics of your outline (each with a
topic sentence) (5 points)
 Concluding paragraph that sums up your topic (1 point)
 Properly formatted works cited page (separate from rest of paper) (1 point)
 Stapled together
 Remember some traits of good writing (16 points—4 points each):
-Do you have a formal, authoritative voice that grabs the reader’s attention with
interesting facts and examples?
-Did you use some strong adjectives and verbs to make your writing interesting?
-Does the format of your paper follow a logical sequence? Do you stay on topic in
each paragraph? Do your sentences flow nicely from one to the next?
-Conventions: Do you have correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation?
