Description of student(s) who need accommodations: Accommodations have been made
Goal of the lesson: To teach the students of the class how to perform the Sicilian Tarantella.
Instructional Objectives: Students will be able to perform the steps to the Sicilian Tarantella dance with partners and in groups of four and to the music 100% of
the time.
New Jersey’s Core Curriculum Content Standards and Cumulative Progress Indicators: 2.5.12.A.3 Design and lead a rhythmic activity that includes variations in
time, space, force, flow, and relationships (creative, cultural, social, and fitness dance).
Materials and Equipment List: Music for the Sicilian Tarantella and an open area to perform the dance.

Set: Introduce the students to the dance
and give motivational story.

dance into 4 main parts and teach them
individually and build on each part with
the next.
Part 1: Step-hop right, swing left leg
across while clapping. Step-hop left, swing
right leg across while clapping. Run four
steps in place while snapping fingers
overhead. Repeat
Part 2: Run 4 steps towards partner
raising hands and snapping. Run 4 steps
backward lowering hands and snapping.
Repeat.
Part 3: Head couples clap hands, run to
meet neighbor, hook elbows and turn
once. Repeat with other neighbor. Repeat
