Narrative Essay

A narrative essay tells a story or part of a story. This narrative should follow the plot sequence we have been discussing in class. This essay can be fictional or based on real-life experience. You may choose to do either style. Your essay should focus on the topic of facing a “monster” or conflict in your life (or your character’s).

Examples we know: “The Sniper” – war, death

“Poison” – snake, racism

“The Most Dangerous Game” – enemy, fear, survival

Possible topics you could choose from (or your own):

*Fight with a family member or friend

*Death or facing a fear

*Discrimination

*Dealing with a difficult person or situation

You are responsible for turning in a “rough draft” as well. The rough draft needs to be one of our handy dandy plot summary worksheets. You should fill out each section of the rough draft, with detail. Include at least three elements of rising action to help better show and explain the conflict in your story. If you do not turn this rough draft plot summary work sheet in, you lose 20% of your grade.

A rubric, of sorts:

 Focus

 Exposition / Setting

 Conflict (external or internal???)

 Climax

 Falling Action

 Solution/Resolution

 Spelling and Grammar

 Plot Summary Worksheet

Essay must be:
