SURVEY: IMPACT OF COMPUTERS ON OUR LIVES
Computers are used extensively in our lives. It is hard to imagine living without computers. How much impact have computers
brought to our lives? How do computers affect our lives? In what aspects we can see or feel the impact? Has the use of computers
changed our way of behavior, our working habits, or even our culture and traditions?…
Bearing the questions in your mind, you and your partner(s) are going to find the answer through a questionnaire. Here
are the steps:

Establish the goals of the project - What you want to learn
Determine your sample - Whom you will interview
Choose interviewing methodology - How you will interview
Create your questionnaire - What you will ask
Pre-test the questionnaire, if practical - Test the questions
Conduct interviews and enter data - Ask the questions
Analyze the data - Produce the reports
This project will be group project.
Timelines:
Oct. 1:

Mind map the impact of computers on our lives

Brainstorm the goals of your project

Homework: Set the goals of your project (due Oct. 04/05)
Oct. 4/5:

Based on the goals, you have to decide whom you will interview, how many will be statistically significant.

Study some formats of questionnaires and decide which formats you would like to use.

Discuss with your partner and decide how you will interview.

Refine your goals.

Start creating the questionnaire.
Oct. 15:

Finish the questionnaire.

Homework: Pre-test the questionnaire to see if you need to make changes
Oct. 18/19:

Finalize the questionnaire.

Decide whom to interview; as well as when, how and where to conduct the interviews

Create an excel template for later data entering.

You can start interviewing during the weekend, or
Oct. 22:

Homework: conduct interviews

If you collect enough data, you can start to enter the data
Oct. 24/25:

Analyze the collected data

Start reporting your findings.
Oct. 29: Project due date

Hand in project.

The finished project should include
o Goals
o Sample and sample size
o Methodology you use
o The questionnaire
o Report of your findings

Please document every step you take towards the end of the project
Please show justification for every changes you make
Sample of the questionnaires is determined by your goals, but keep in mind that you can also interview people outside
schools, for example, your family, friends, neighbors, or people you meet on the road, etc…
You and your partner can conduct the interview together, you can also give interviews separately.
