SPEAKERS
QUENTIN FOGG PhD
Quentin Fogg received a BSc and BSc(Hons) from the University of Adelaide, Australia. Whilst still in
his home town, he completed his PhD in clinical anatomy. During this time he was appointed to a
lectureship at Flinders University, also in Adelaide. He then accepted a short term post at the
American University of the Caribbean on the island of Sint Maarten, and ended up staying for more
than three years. There he was appointed interim Chairman of Anatomy, Embryology and Histology.
He was then appointed to the William Hunter Lectureship at the University of Glasgow 2007. He
took up the post in 2008 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2010. He has published 18 papers
in major journals, has more than 100 international conference presentations and is a reviewer for a
number of international publications.
MANDY ABBOTT (LECTURER)
Mandy is a full time lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University. Mandy’s clinical interests are in
sports injuries and lower limb biomechanics. Mandy has had a number of years experience working
with sports professionals including the SRU and some of the SPL football teams. As one of the
Clinical Directors for Special Olympics, Mandy has been involved in world games as well as national.
Mandy’s research interests are in the effects of orthoses on human movement.
LEE HERRINGTON PhD MCSP
Senior Lecturer in Sports Rehabilitation, University of Salford, physiotherapist at English Institute of
Sport (North West region) and British Swimming intensive training centre, Stockport. Acts as a
consultant physiotherapist to a number of Premiership and Championship football clubs and
Premiership rugby union clubs. Has formally worked with Great Britain and Wigan Warriors Rugby
league teams. He has over 50 peer reviewed research papers in the area of exercise rehabilitation of
musculoskeletal injury.
LYNN ROBERTSON MCSP
Lynn works as an extended scope Physiotherapy practitioner in Orthopaedics at Glasgow Royal
Infirmary and also in private practice.
Since graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1996 with an Honours degree in
Physiotherapy, Lynn has worked in several specialities but exclusively in musculoskeletal
rehabilitation since 2000. She has experience in elite sports, having worked and travelled with the
Scottish Womens football team and has a post graduate qualification in sport injuries and sports
medicine.
Lynn has a wealth of experience in the assessment and treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal
problems, but has a special interest in the treatment of complex shoulder problems.
ANDREW BROOKSBANK MB ChB, FRCS (Ed), FRCS ed (Tr and Orth)
Andrew Brooksbank is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where
he specialises in shoulder surgery. This gives him a wide exposure to all aspects of shoulder
pathology from dealing with fractures and rotator cuff injuries to instability and arthritis of the
shoulder. He undertook specialist Fellowship training in shoulder surgery in Christchurch, New
Zealand and Exeter, UK. In New Zealand he had the opportunity to work alongside Surgeons treating
professional athletes on a regular basis gaining expertise in complex arthroscopic shoulder
reconstructions. In Exeter he worked with one of Britain's leading shoulder surgeons with areas of
interest of frozen shoulder, rotator cuff repair and shoulder replacement surgery. His main areas of
interest are traumatic shoulder injuries and their complex reconstruction utilising arthroscopic
surgery, treating both contact and overhead athletes.
COLIN WALKER MB ChB, FRCS (Orth)
Colin Walker, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Southern General Hospital and the Victoria
Infirmary since 1998, is a specialist in knee surgery. He graduated from Manchester University in
1987 and subsequently did his specialist training and knee fellowship in Manchester and Edinburgh.
He is now a specialist soft tissue knee surgeon with a particular interest in acute knee injuries, ACL
reconstruction and complex knee instabilities.
Through their association with the Glasgow Sports Surgery Service (GSSS), both Colin and Andrew
are involved in the education of physiotherapists and healthcare professionals with an interest in
sports injuries in addition to lecturing to Masters and undergraduate students at Glasgow
University's Department of Sports Medicine. Andrew has also been integral in developing the
Glasgow Sport Surgery Service website www.gsss.co.uk. which provides an excellent resource for
patients and health professionals alike.
