A-Z Book Report
After you finish reading the book you chose for this book report, it is time to begin your
ABC Book. Follow the directions below to ensure you include everything that is
required.

Complete the rough draft for the ABC Book. Worksheet p. 2

Listed is A-Z of the alphabet.

At the top, write the book title and the author’s name.
For each letter of the alphabet, match up something from the story that begins with
that letter.
You may use the characters’ names, setting elements (time/place), or events in the
story.
For the letters “U-V-W” and “X-Y-Z” that are grouped together, find one item
from the story that matches ONE of those letter from each group.
After matching each letter with a word dealing with the story, write a brief
sentence about that word to explain how it relates to the story.
EXAMPLE: Abel in Abel’s Island is a mouse that acts human.
UVW – Weather created the problem for Abel because it sent him “flying” to a deserted
island.

Turn in the completed rough draft worksheet to be checked by the given
rough draft due date.

Use 12 – 5”x7” index cards (with or without lines) and 1 brass connector for
the ABC Book – One booklet will be provided by Mrs. Smith.
The first card should include underlined book title, author’s name, and your name
on the front.
The cards to follow should have two letters of the alphabet on each card, with the
sentence dealing with the item from the story.

After you have written each letter with its sentence, color and decorate your
book with scenes or drawings that go with the story.
Every page should have some sort of decoration on it that relates to the story
(designs or drawings).
