EVERYBODY DOES: Journal/Commentary (25 points)
Write a Journal/Commentary about Schindler’s List
a. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 250 words (typed is preferred. If not typed,
hand PRINTED, every other line of the paper). This should be totally your
thoughts, words, ideas, etc. You can write about whatever you want/are
thinking about related to the movie. THE ONLY THING I DO NOT WANT IS
SUMMARY. THIS SHOULD BE YOUR THOUGHTS, IDEAS, COMMENTS,
REACTIONS. It’s ok to use informal language, first person etc.
DUE TUESDAY, Sept. 25
IF you cannot think of a topic, let me suggest this: In the end, is the film more
depressing or more uplifting.
CHOOSE YOUR OWN PROJECT: SCHINDLER’s LIST (See Blog for Rubrics)
a. Pretend you are a character from Schindler’s List or Night. Create a
scrapbook in which you pretend you are a character from the film/book.
On each page, have at least one artifact that represents your character’s
journey through the film and a brief explanation of why you chose it.
(Note: You can make these artifacts—but try to make them seem as
authentic as possible) The project as a whole should do a good job of
explaining the character’s life. You will be graded on your organization,
the quality of content, creativity and meeting a 10-page minimum
requirement.
b. Write and illustrate a children’s book version of Schindler’s List or Night.
Book should have at least 10 pages and will be graded on organization,
quality of content, creativity and meeting a 10 page minimum
requirement.
c. HISTORY OR HOLLYWOOD PAPER:
i. Research the incidents depicted in Schindler’s List (Oscar Schindler,
Amon Goeth, Krakow Ghetto, Plazsow Labor camp) and write a
minimum 500 word paper in which you compare and contrast the
film version with the real life version.
ii. IF YOU’D LIKE TO DO A VERSION OF THIS THAT ALSO EARNS UP TO 25
POINTS EXTRA CREDIT, you may read the book version of Schindler’s
List and compare the two.
DUE: MONDAY, OCT. 1
MERANDA:
Next week, we will be watching Schindler’s List in class. Since you will not be
there, the substitute is to read the book Night. As you read, for each chapter do
the following:
1. Summarize the chapter in a paragraph.
2. Select one short passage/quote that you think symbolizes
that chapter and explain why you chose it.
