ATTENDANCE:
1. Class attendance is not only mandatory, but necessary for the learning of a foreign
language. Each absence over two will lower your final grade 3%. Five absences will
lower the final semester grade one letter. Six absences will result in the final semester
grade being lowered two letters; seven, three letters. Students arriving after attendance
has been taken will be counted as tardy. Excessive tardiness WILL be counted as
absences.
2. If an exam is missed, it must be made up in the Learning Center BEFORE THE NEXT
CLASS!!! Failure to do so will result in a zero for that exam. (For extenuating
circumstances, please talk with the instructor.)

COURSE GRADE: Grades are determined as a percentage based on the student’s
accumulated point total of all tests. If a student misses class one time during any one of the
eight units of study (listed above) without notifying the teacher, the student will take a short
essay test on that particular unit. The following grading scale will be implemented:
90 – 100% = A
80 – 89% = B
70 – 79% = C
60 – 69% = D
Below 60% = F
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY: Cheating/plagiarism will be scored as 0 and averaged into the
final grade. The Dean will be notified as well.
CELL PHONES are NOT ALLOWED in the classrooms, nor in the computer lab. Because cell
phones can be very disruptive to the class, a student using a cell phone (in any manner) during
class will be counted absent.
**Any student who feels s/he may need an accommodation based on the impact of a disability
under the American’s with Disabilities Act should contact me privately to discuss specific
needs.
