 Begin with students completing a TrackStar about Mardi Gras
in Louisiana
 Using AskJeeves and other search engines have the students
research different Krewes of Mardi Gras
 Using a variety of materials have the students create a Mardi
Gras float
 After the float is completed, the student should begin a
rough draft of a narrative or descriptive 3 point paragraph
about the float
 The students will exchange papers with a peer to proofread.
 The student should use the revised paper to type in MS Word
or other word processing program.
 Let the students display their floats and publish their
writing.
 Shoeboxes, Colored paper, Scissors, Glue, Decorative
elements
 Student products of the float, narrative or descriptive paper
and answers from the TrackStar. It is suggested to use the
LEAP writing rubric to evaluate the writing selection.
