Project Choices
Due Date: Wed. Apr. 4th
1. Collage – Create a visual collage on a large posterboard that contains at least 20
pictures of people, places, and things that represent the novel. Consider the time
period, the location, and the characters. Grade based on creativity and thematic
connection to novel.
2. Research Paper – Choose one of the following topics and write 4 pages (front
only, in ink or typed). Must correctly cite 3 sources:

The contributions of an African-American writer, musician, artist, or leader
from the 1930's

A specific social issue during the 1930's and create a written or oral report
explaining its impact on individuals who lived through the Depression
3. 3-D Map – Create a 3-dimensional model of the setting of the novel. Include at
least 5 locations discussed in the story (e.g., schools, homes, farms, market, bus
route, stores, bank, neighbors, etc.) Locations on model should be labeled.
Distances between locations and details should be as accurate as possible.
