Name:
NEW DEAL POSTER ADVERTISEMENT
President Franklin Roosevelt aggressively planned to get the United States out of the Great
Depression by creating a program called the New Deal. Under the New Deal, the federal
government planned to get the economy back on track immediately, in the short term, and fix the
country’s economic problems for good, in long term.
The President gathered the brightest and best businessmen and intellectuals to come up with
ways to fix the economy. Their ideas created programs within the New Deal. Some of these
programs worked and others did not. Attached you will find a list of SOME of the New Deal
Programs. Your task is to create an advertisement (poster) for ONE of these programs.
TASK:
Create a poster with the following elements:
1. _____Summarize the New Deal program you have selected. Explain its goals
purpose.
2._____Create a logo/symbol for your program that is relevant to the topic. In
some cases the program may already have a logo, or you may design
your own. You may draw the logo or cut and paste it on your poster.
3, ____ Explain one negative and one positive aspect of the program. (Example:
Negative; it was very expensive, Positive; it put 100,000 people to work). If you
cannot find a negative and a positive, you may include two negative or two positive
aspects.
4._____ Tell WHY you think the program was a success or failure. Explain your
answer. Tell whether the program is a Relief, Reform or Recovery
program.
5._____Make sure your poster is attractive, organized, neat and easy to
read. Also, make sure you edit your work and that the poster is free of grammatical,
spelling and organizational mistakes. In addition: DO NOT COPY source
information WORD FOR WORD. PUT WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY IN YOUR
OWN WORDS.
