Each of you will compose an essay and create a display that focuses on one superhero
or villain. This will be the culminating three-part project for the course and followed only
by a final exam to be given in class.

Since we are jumping around from the i-Books to the Computer Lab, it
is IMPERITAVE that you have a removable piece of hardware to keep
your work on OR an internet based storage system like Google Docs.
DO NOT RELY ON the Student Share Drive. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
make sure you save ALL WORK at ALL TIMES.

Presentations Part 3
PART ONE: CONTENT – 5 MAIN QUESTIONS

What is the basic mythology of your character? (THINK: Their background history)

What are their strengths & weaknesses?

Who are their allies, nemeses or love interests?

What archetype(s) fit your hero/villain?

Explain the context your hero/villain was created within (for example Captain
America & World War II – THINK: what decade was your character created and what
was happening in America at the time?).
PART TWO: THREE-PART RESEARCH PROJECT
1. WRITING

You must use at least three sources for your research; one of them must be a printed
source (book, magazine, etc.).

2-3 Pages in Length

Each source must be properly cited in the Modern Language Association (MLA)
format in your Works Cited page.

Wikipedia is not a valid source – the Marvel and DC Comics Wikias listed below ARE
valid though.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated; if you use someone else’s work without properly
citing it, you will receive a zero for the assignment
2. VISUAL

Based on your research paper, you will create a visual representation of your chosen
Superhero.

If you are unsure about an idea, please speak to Mr. Chiara!

All images used on your visual must be classroom appropriate.

BE CREATIVE!
3. PRESENTATION

Based on your research paper and visual project, you will give a short presentation
to the class on your chosen superhero.

You may incorporate your visual assignment, but you must answer the five main
questions (see part one)

Again, all images used on your presentation must be classroom appropriate.
PART THREE: SUPERHERO ROULETTE


You may NOT choose from the following superheroes for your project:

Batman
o
Wonder Woman
o
Captain America
Your Superhero choices will be presented to me on Friday, May 16th. It will be based
on a lottery system, so please choose at least five Superheroes you would like to do
research on. You might not get your first choice. You may write your ideas down
below:

PART FOUR: GRADING

This assignment is worth a 200 Point Tests & Essays Grade:
a. Essay: 100 Points
b. Presentation: 50 Points
c. Visual: 50 Points

While working on computers, a daily grade of ten points (in class assignment) will be
awarded for staying on tasks. If you are not working diligently on your project, then
you will lose those ten points.
