How to Write A STAAR Styled Persuasive Essay Prompt (Quiz Grade)
For this assignment, you will need to be a test maker and create your own persuasive essay
prompt that is related to the book you’re reading this six weeks. Your prompt needs to be
on a topic that has two different viewpoints that can be argued reasonably. It does not need
to be really specific since the STAAR prompts are fairly general.
You will have to have the following elements that mimic the STAAR test.




A relevant quote from your novel that gets students thinking about the issue in your
prompt. (30 points)
A think about section that presents both sides of the argument. (30 points)
The prompt where you tells students exactly what to write about. (30 points)
It must also be formatted like the STAAR – veranda 10 point font with a box around
the quote (10 points)
