FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cinequest Film Festival 2016 (CQFF2016)
Latino Cinema Celebration
Icon Rita Moreno Headlines
CQFF2016 occurs March 1-13, 2016 in San Jose/Silicon Valley and offers an exceptional
Latino program, including a Maverick Spirit Award presentation to Rita Moreno after the
world premiere of her latest gem.
For over seven decades, Rita Morena has shined like no other star in all arenas of the
entertainment business. A rare EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) “grand slam” winner,
Ms. Moreno was the first Hispanic actor to receive an Academy Award for her role as the
fiery Anita in West Side Story. More impressively, Ms. Moreno is a Medal Of Freedom
recipient, our nation’s highest civilian honor. Still going strong, she continues to delight
audiences and fight for minority rights. As noted by President Barack Obama, “She’s still a
leading lady of her era, a trailblazer with courage to break through barriers and forge new
paths.” Cinequest will present Ms. Moreno the Maverick Spirit Award on March 5 at 7 pm. at
the California Theatre after the screening of Remember Me.

Remember Me | Moreno enchants in this heartwarming and hilarious comedy. Two
self-involved cousins and their recently widowed grandmother take a wild road trip
