Lesson 1.1: The Earth’s Systems
The Earth’s system depends on the SUN & These 4 parts:
atmosphere
geosphere
biosphere
hydrosphere
System:
A group of parts that work together.
Energy:
The ability to do work. (SUN)
Atmosphere: The thin layer of gases the make the Earth’s outermost (top) layer.
Geosphere: Inside layers of the Earth
Hydrosphere: The system that contains all of the Earth’s water.
Biosphere:
The system of the Earth that contains living things. (plants & animals)

Force:
A natural power that interacts with an object
EXAMPLES:
A hammer pounding on a nail.
A tornado touching the ground.
(non-natural force)

Constructive Force: - A force that BUILDS-UP the Earth’s surface by 2 of
Earth’s plates pushing together.
- Creates mountains earthquakes, volcanoes
*Construct = builds things
Destructive Forces: - Forces that Destroy & wear away / moves land apart
- Land shape changes by weathering /erosion
(natural things): like wind, water, heat.
*Destructive = breaks things
