Assignment: Extending the Story Name:

Jane Eyre is the story of a woman's life from the age of ten to twenty-two. It is told by the woman. Jane, by her own admission, is not rich, beautiful, or brilliant. And yet her story has been read millions of times.

It has also been interpreted in many different ways.

3. Extending the Story

Now it’s your turn to give a type of interpretation to the book. While maintaining Charlotte

Bronte’s ‘tone’ extend the story of Jane Eyre with your own short story.

Will you tell the story of Jane and Edward? Diana or Mary? St. John Rivers in India? What about the first born child? Or did they have other children that you should write about?

Will you add characters and crisis, or just build upon what you already know?
