The Field Museum

My teacher is having my class due an essay on some of the exhibits in the Field

Museum and in my essay I will be talking about the Ancient Americas, King

Tutankhamun, and Pearls. The Field Museum is very interesting to me and it is full of many exciting and interesting exhibits like the Hall of Jades. The Field Museum is full of many facts about different topics that are very interesting to look at and learn about.

First, I will be talking about the Ancient Americas: The Ice Age. Anywhere from

11,000 to 30,000 years ago the earth was almost completely covered I glaciers.

Archeologists have found some evidence of people living in these harsh cold conditions.

Archeologists believe that these people migrated from Asia to hunt big animals like mammoths. Campsites of the Ice Age Americans are found in many different spots spreading from the Pacific Northwest all the way to the southern tip of South America.

The knowledge and skills of these humans was spread great distances throughout the world.

Second, I will be talking about the exhibit of King Tut. King Tut’s tomb was found in 1922 by Howard Carter British archeologists. Tutankhamun started reining at age ten and died right before his twentieth birthday. The Nile River was one of the most important things to the king and his subjects. Archeologists have found numerous items in the kings tomb that he might have used in everyday life. The Field Museum shows over 130 exhibits on King Tut and his relatives many that have never even traveled outside of Egypt.

Furthermore, I will talk about the pearls exhibit. Pearls are the only gems that come from a living organism they emerge from their watery origins not needing to be cut or polished. The Field Museum has more than half a million pearls all of which are some of the worlds oldest, largest, and the most valuable pearls. Pearls are found in mollusks and they are found in a variety of marine and freshwater environments. Pearls come from the bottom of streams, lakes, rivers, and oceans.

Finally, the Field Museum is full of exciting exhibits that I really enjoyed looking at and writing about. In my essay I talked about the Ancient Americas: The Ice

Age, King Tut, and Pearls. The Ancient Americas the Ice Age Time was a cold climate but somehow people lived there. King Tut was one of the youngest kings to reign and he died right before is twentieth birthday. Finally, I talked about pearls which are perhaps the only gem that are born of a living organism the mollusk. The three topics that I talked about were very interesting to me and I really like the Field Museum.
