Rising 6th grader Summer Reading Assignment
Due Date: First Day of Language A class
Welcome to Northview, an IB World School. In order to prepare for your
year in Language A, you are asked to read one assigned non-fiction (A) and two
choice fiction (B) books over the 2012 summer. These books must be read before
the first day of Language A class at Northview. Please bring both books to the
first day of Language A class.
A.Non-Fiction Assigned Novel Directions:
1. Create a list of 10 ideas that you would like to use for the upcoming
school year
2. Write a reflection paragraph that answers, “How could you use what you
have read in this book during your first year at Northview?”
Book Title: Fighting Invisible Tigers, Earl Hipp
Summary: This book discusses the pressures and problems
encountered by teenagers and provide information on life skills,
stress management, and methods of gaining more control over their
lives. Proven, practical advice for teens on coping with stress, being
assertive, taking risks, making decisions, staying healthy, dealing with
fears, building relationships, and more.
B.Fiction Novel Directions:
Choose 2 Fiction novels from the list below to read. Choose your favorite of
the two to bring to the first day of Language A class. We will be completing
a book review project during the first week of school.
