South East Trampoline Report
The South East has two clubs competing in trampoline competitions, Cobra and Rathdrum.
Cobra were also joined by several members from the ex Northern Stars club for this season.
International competitions
In September 2011, Dylan Marshall (Cobra), Boyd Cathcart, Andrew Housten and Daniel
Cathcart (Cobra Northern Stars) were on the Irish team that competed in the Loule Cup in
Portugal. Daniel Cathcart had a great competition to win a bronze medal in the Under 13
DMT competition. Dylan Marshall qualified for the final in the 13-14 boys group and finished in
6th place.
In November 2011, Dylan Marshall, Boyd Cathcart, Andrew Housten and Daniel Cathcart
were on the Irish team that competed in the World Age Group championships in Birmingham.
Boyd had the highest ever Irish placing in DMT and Dylan had the highest score of the Irish
trampolinists finishing in 25th in the 13-14 boys age group.
14 year old Dylan will compete in the junior event in trampoline and DMT in the Albacete
World Cup in June, this will be his first international competition as a Junior in the 15-18 age
group.
2011 National Championships and Grand Prix Final
The Trampoline Grand Prix finals 2011, the South East region finished in third place with
Rebecca Connor and Lauren Kelly from Rathdrum winning bronze medals. For Cobra, Dylan
Marshall won bronze at elite level and won the open group.
In the 2011 Trampoline National Finals for Rathdrum Ellen Patterson, Lauren Kelly and
Andrew Traynor all won Gold medals in their groups, Rebecca Connor won Silver. Izzi Kelly
won Bronze.
For Cobra at intermediate level, Alberto Facal Malvar won gold , Ruth Sheahan and Mark
Sheahan won silver. At Advanced level Lauren Dixon won silver. At Elite Level, Dylan
Marshall, Daniel Cathcart and Boyd Cathcart won gold and Andrew Housten silver. In the
men’s competition, Boyd Cathcart won gold and Andrew Housten silver.
2012 National Championships and Grand Prix Final
The Trampoline Grand Prix finals 2012, Anna Doyle won individual silver in the Novice Group
and Emma Byrne a Bronze in the intermediate group. The seven from Rathdrum were Anna
Doyle, Hannah Caw, Emma Byrne, Izzi and Lauren Kelly, Ellen Patterson and Nicci
Armstrong.
Cobra performances from Daisy Sharpe, Alberto Facal Malvar, Dylan Marshall, Boyd Cathcart
and Daniel Cathcart contributed to a first place team finish for the South East region. Alberto
Facal Malvar won advanced gold, Boyd, Dylan and Daniel finished in 1 st, 2nd and 3rd place in
both the elite and open levels.
In the 2012 Trampoline National Finals for Rathdrum in the novice section both Hannah Caw
and Alicia Purtell Jordan received bronze medals, Caitlin Caw was placed 4th in this group. At
Intermediate Sarah Burke, Lauren Kelly, Izzi Kelly and Andrew Traynor won gold and Emma
Byrne placed 4th . At Advanced Level both Ellen Patterson and Nicci Armstrong won Silver
medals. For Cobra, medal winners on the day were at Novice level in only her second
trampoline competition Niamh Geoghegan won gold in the novice 8 years girls group, Daisy
Sharpe won bronze in the novice 11-12 girls group. Ruth Sheahan won bronze in the
intermediate 9-10 girls with Ciara Brennan close behind in 4th place. Alberto Facal Malvar won
the advanced 13-14 boys group. National 13-14 silver medalist was Lauren Dixon, Elite 1314 champion was Daniel Cathcart, Dylan Marshall won the elite 15-16 age group and won
silver in the men’s competition, Boyd Cathcart was the Elite 17-18 and Men’s champion,
Andrew Housten was silver medalist in the elite 17-18 group and was men’s bronze medalist.
Elite girls 13-14 and ladies champion was Hannah Mellon.
Irish National Squad
Cobra has six members of the current trampoline National Squad- Dylan Marshall, Ray Barry,
Boyd Cathcart, Daniel Cathcart, Andrew Housten and Hannah Mellon.
