Converting Fractions, Decimals and Percentages
Converting a Fraction to a Decimal
The line which separates each part of a fraction stands for division,
so ¾ can be seen as 3 divided by 4. Finding the answer to this
division will change the fractions to a decimal.
¾ = 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75
Converting a Fraction to a percentage
To convert a fraction to a percent start by changing the fraction to
a decimal then multiply by 100
¾ x 100 = 3 ÷ 4 x 100 = 0.75 x 100 = 75%
Converting a Decimal to a Fraction
Start by imagining the digits after the decimal point in a place value
chart, as this gives you the denominator, e.g.0.345 in this number
the last digit is in the thousandths column, the denominator will be a
1000, so the decimal portion is worth 345 out of 1000.

Alternatively, just count the number of digits after the decimal
point, each one represents a multiple of 10 that should appear as the
denominator, e.g. 12.53 there are 2 digits after the decimal point so
the denominator will be 100 and the fraction will be
12 53 note whole numbers remain unchanged.

100 10
75% = 75 = 3
100 4
