WHAT IS BOTOX?

Botox is the trade name of botulinum toxin which is a neurotoxin. It’s therapeutic and cosmetic actions are based on its property to relax the muscles.

WHAT ARE THE MEDICAL USES OF BOTOX?

Botox has been traditionally used for over 15 years for various medical conditions like blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, torticollis and migraine.

DOES BOTOX PREVENT WRINKLES?

Botox can temporarily erase or reduce horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines, and crow's-feet. The injections relax the facial muscles that contract hundreds of times a day, eventually causing lines in the skin which are called wrinkles. Botox can also lift the corners of the mouth that sag with age and soften lines around the mouth and neck

WILL BOTOX MAKE ME FEEL NUMB AND LOOK FROZEN?

It will not affect the nerves that cause sensation, or make you feel numb. When it is used correctly, it can lift the brow to give an appealing and sincere look.

WHAT IS THE BEST AGE TO START USING BOTOX?

Botox can be given at any age between 18-75 years. It works best if started early before the wrinkles become deep and permanent

WILL BOTOX REMOVE ALL LINES AND WRINKLES?

Deeper lines may require the use of dermal fillers. However, you should think about the look you want to achieve before removing all lines. 100% wrinkle free may not be natural. Your doctor will examine and decide about the treatment accordingly.

DOES BOTOX HURT?

No .It is administered using a very thin needle and your doctor can apply local anesthesia ten minutes before the procedure or ice the area to numb it.

IS BOTOX SAFE?

Botox is recognised as one of the safest cosmetic treatments which is why it is now the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world. Side effects are extremely rare.

HOW MUCH TIME IS REQUIRED FOR THE PROCEDURE?

The procedure per se does not take much time. It is often referred to as the “lunch time procedure” meaning thereby that it can be done during your office lunch time and you can get back to work thereafter

HOW LONG DOES BOTOX LAST?

It varies from patient to patient, but good results usually last four to five months.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT THE DAY AFTER MY BOTOX APPOINTMENT?

Not much. Results begin to show in a couple of days and develop gradually over the course of two weeks. There are no precautions to be taken after the procedure and you can resume to your normal activity immediately

WHO CAN ADMINISTER BOTOX?

Botox and dermal fillers are best given by trained doctors who have an adequate experience in the above field.
