Re: Female Midget Scholarship Tournament (March 14th to 17th, 2005)
The Sixth Annual Midget Scholarship Tournament is scheduled for the week before Spring Break
(beginning March 14th). Please find attached the Female Midget Scholarship player information form.
This form must be completed and mailed back to the above address, by February 7th, 2005 along with the
registration fee* of $20 (twenty dollars) per player. Please collect all monies from your players and issue
one check payable to PCAHA Female Scholarship Tournament. The focus of our Tournament is to
provide the graduating girls with an opportunity to get together for a final Fun Event and also award at
least two scholarships.
All graduating PCAHA Female League players (all skill levels) are invited and every player will play at
least two games. To be eligible for selection to one of the scholarship Tournament teams; Players must be
(i) registered with a Female Midget Team within the PCAHA and (ii) a graduating player Midget (17
years old as of December 31st, 2004. In addition any player who has incurred a Gross Misconduct or
Match penalty or who has accumulated excessive penalty minutes is not eligible for selection.
At the beginning of March participating players will be notified of their team and ice times. The chief
criteria for the scholarship awards are Sportsmanship and MVP. The Midget Tier 1 players and the
Midget Tier 2/3 players will be evaluated separately. There are two possible formats depending on the
number of graduating girls attending summarised as follows:
Two Teams (less than 33 girls attending)
The players will be divided into two balanced teams who will play each other three times. There will be
two scholarships of $500.00 awarded (one to the Midget Tier 1 players and one to the Midget Tier2/3
players).
Three Teams (more than 32 girls attending)
The players will be divided into three balanced teams. The tournament will take the form of a 3 game
single round robin plus a final game between the top 2 teams. There will be three scholarships of
$500.00 awarded. The first scholarship will be awarded to one of the Midget Tier 1 players. The second
scholarship will be awarded to one of the Tier 2/3 players. The third scholarship will be awarded to a
player from Midget division depending on the number of players registered from each Tier and also the #
of votes on the Evaluators' MVP forms.
At this time we are planning the programme booklet for the event and would like to include graduation
photos (or similar) of all players. One of the sample photos from the grad package would be fine as the
photo will be scanned and can be edited to remove the writing. Please have the player write her name on
the reverse of the photo along with her current Team name, Tier and position. Photos will be returned.
As team manager please can you collect the photos from your participating players and forward them by
mail to the PCAHA office at the above address to be received no later than February 28th.
If anyone has prizes to donate please contact Kathy ASAP as we need raffle prizes to be drawn during the
games. Thank for your help and I hope that you will encourage all your graduating girls to attend.
*Refunds will be given only with a doctor’s letter and notification to the co-ordinator by phone 10 (ten) days prior to the
tournament.
