NextAire VRF System Sequence of Operation

NEXTAIRE™ Multi-Zone Gas Heat Pump Sequence of Operation
A programmable thermostat controls the operation of the indoor unit. Desired occupied and
unoccupied heating and cooling set-points are programmed via the thermostat. Fan operation
is determined by the position of the “ON-AUTO” switch, as well as by the mode of
occupancy. Heating and cooling operation as described herein assumes the system
“HEAT-AUTO-COOL-OFF” switch is in the “AUTO” position.
The NextAire™ VRF outdoor unit heating or cooling mode is determined by the needs of the
individual zones. For instance, if more zones (indoor units) are in need of cooling rather than
heating, then the outdoor unit will operate in a cooling mode and modulates the refrigerant
flow in order to deliver the appropriate amount of cooling to the indoor units. Conversely, if
more zones (indoor units) are in need of heating rather than cooling, then the NextAire™ VRF
outdoor unit will operate in a heating mode and modulates the refrigerant flow in order to
deliver the appropriate amount of heating to the indoor units.
If there is no heating or cooling demand by any of the zones (indoor units), then the
NextAire™ VRF outdoor unit heating or cooling are disengaged.
