THE DON & MARY ELLEN URLY SCHOLARSHIP
APPLICATION FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
CRITERIA:
1) Applicant must be a member of the Ohio Junior Shorthorn Association.
2) Applicant must be a graduate of an Ohio high school in the year 2015.
3) Applicant must be enrolled full-time (12 or more credit hours) at a college,
university, or career/technical school.
4) The application is to be typed or printed neatly in ink.
5) The application must be mailed to: Michael Bihl

6) The application must be postmarked no later than June 20, 2015.
7) Interviews will be held at the State Shorthorn Show in Hilliard, Ohio (Franklin
County fairgrounds) on July 18, 2015. Time to be announced.
8) The following information must be included in the Application Packet:
 The general information sheet (attached)
 Resume from Career Passport listing community involvement, leadership
positions, work experience, and special skills or talents.
 A brief statement of your educational and career goals.
 A brief personal statement as to why you feel you deserve this scholarship.
 Include an official, final high school transcript with ACT and/or SAT
scores and class rank.
 Proof of full-time enrollment to the college you plan to attend in the fall.
 Two (2) letters of recommendation from non-relatives (teacher, instructor,
principal, employer, community leader and/or shorthorn breeder).
A student may only receive the Ohio Shorthorn Breeders’ Association Scholarship
one time during his/her college career.
NOTE: Payment will be made to the recipient and college/school upon receipt of
official confirmation of enrollment. It will be the responsibility of the recipient of
the scholarship offered by the Ohio Shorthorn Breeders’ Association to see to it
that the official enrollment documentation is sent to Michael Bihl. If the recipient
should drop out of school within the first three (3) weeks of the semester/quarter
the $500 scholarship will be returned to Ohio Shorthorn Breeders’ Association.

STATEMENT OF APPLICANT AND PARENT/GUARDIAN
We have examined this application and the records are true, accurate, and complete. We
understand that if the applicant is the recipient of the scholarship offered by the Ohio Shorthorn
Breeders’ Association and should drop out of college/school within the first three (3) weeks of
classes that the amount of the scholarship of $500 will be returned to the Ohio Shorthorn
Breeders’ Association.
