Typhoon Fanapi Storm Cycle Is Landing Tomorrow Morning
Commander of the Central Emergency Operation Center, Minister of
Interior Yi-Huah Jiang at today (Sept 18) evening held the 2nd press
conference, said that the current Typhoon Fanapi movement, according to
the Central Weather Bureau forecast the evening, the typhoon is located on
the sea surface 290 kilometers east of Hualien, with 17-20 km per hour
speed moving toward west, it is the same direction with the forecast made
by CEOC previously. Jiang said that the typhoon storm cycle will enter
and contact Taiwan's land midnight or early morning today. In tomorrow
morning at 8, because the radius of level 10 Beaufort wind began to come
into contact with Taiwan's land, so beginning tomorrow morning at 8,
wind and rain become stronger and harder, the situation will continue until
about 5 pm, but the whole level 7 Beaufort wind storm is estimated to
leave Taiwan on the day after tomorrow, that is, early Monday morning. In
other words, the most severe period of time of the typhoon Fanapi invasion
to Taiwan is now estimated from 8 am tomorrow morning until the
afternoon, people should not take it lightly and should guard against it.
Commander Jiang pointed out that the movement of the typhoon
Fanapi is largely divided into two phases; it has different effects in
different regions. First of all before the typhoon landed, before its center
get into Hualien, the time is about today midnight to tomorrow before
noon, the affected parts will be more severe in the eastern and northeastern
part of Taiwan, and most rainfall will be concentrated in these areas. Until
the typhoon landed, from noon tomorrow to tomorrow midnight, the main
rainfall will gradually concentrate in the southwest part and southwest
mountain areas, the same as the disaster region hit by the typhoon Morakot
last year, so the public is called on to pay special attention to the disaster
prevention and the shifts for this region, especially in central and southern
regions.
Commander Jiang noted that the current evacuation situation, there
are already 6 counties and 15 townships, a total of 1,692 persons were
evacuated preventively. As of the settled shelters, it is now opened 15
