Research Paper- Endangered Animal
First Paragraph-Introduction
The introduction must include a good opening sentence or hook to get the readers
attention. Talk about what endangered or threatened means. Tell the name of your
animal and state if it is endangered or threatened.. State your thesis. Tell that your animal
is endangered and should be saved or protected. You can also state your three focal points
in the introduction.
Second Paragraph-Description of Animal.
Begin with a good topic sentence. (Example: First, The Cheetah deserves to be protected
because of its appearance.) This paragraph should describe the animal. Give a
description of size, weight, height, color, special features or body parts etc. End with a
concluding sentence.
Third paragraph- Habitat
Begin with a topic sentence about habitat. Where does it live? Which continent? Which
country? Which biome? Is the animal losing its habitat? How does your animal survive in
that habitat? Does your animal eat something only found in its habitat? End with a
concluding sentence.
Fourth Paragraph-Optional
This paragraph depends on your note cards. Begin with a topic sentence about________.
You can chose any of these topics: Animal behavior, Reproduction and offspring
(babies), group behavior. End with a concluding sentence.
Fifth Paragraph- Endangerment
Start with a transition word and a topic sentence about endangerment.
Why is your animal endangered? How many of these animals are left? How many of
these animals have died off in the past years? What is causing the animal to become
endangered? End with a concluding sentence
.
Sixth Paragraph- Conservation
Start with a transition word and a topic sentence about conservation.
Which laws are already protecting your animal? What are scientists doing to stop this
animal from going extinct? What else can people do to protect this animal? End with a
concluding sentence.
Seventh Paragraph-Conclusion
Restate your thesis. Summarize your paper. Call to action- What should everyone do
about the situation?
