DENT 703: DENTAL THERAPEUTICS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS

Course syllabus
Course Credits:
2 hours, 2-hour lectures for 16 weeks
 Lectures: Interactive lectures will be planned to explain some aspects,
illustrate important points and motivate students. Total coverage will not
be the goal of these lectures.
 Self reading and library projects will be assigned as appropriate
Objectives:
This course contains the advanced level of knowledge concerning the theory and practice
of dental therapeutic agents. By the end of this course the students should have a detailed
and updated knowledge in:
1. Prescribing for dental pateints with varoius medical conditions
2. Antiinfective agents of use in dental practice
3. Drugs acting on the oral tissues
4. Hemostasis pharmacology
5. Drugs used for pain and anxiety management
Assessment: There will be two intrasemester exams (theory) credited 25 marks each and a
comprehensive final examination (theory) credited 50 marks.
