REMINDER: On Thursday, April 21th MKHS will be on Bell Schedule T.

All Students interested in trying out for the Mark Keppel High School drill team, practice begins on
Monday, April 18th at 3:15pm at the Palm Court. Make sure you bring appropriate practice attire and
tennis shoes. Girls should have their hair tied up, no jewelry or piercings. NO EXCEPTIONS.

TEXTBOOK AMNESTY WEEK IS HERE! If you have textbooks that are damaged in any way, bring them to
the Bookroom the week of April 18 - 21. The damage will be repaired or noted, or the book will be exchanged AT
NO CHARGE. Any books brought into the Bookroom after that week will be subject to the usual damage fines.

SENIORS: East Los Angeles College (ELAC) will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, April 26 during 1st
period. Come and get up-to-date info on the application and registration process. Go to the Career Center now to
sign up for the presentation and pick up a permission slip. -Ms. Minch
Seniors: while the rest of the student body is testing, seniors will be playing games and having a good time. Please
sign up in the Activities Office if you are interested inplaying in a basketball tournament during Senior Activitiies
week. There will be signups for teams of 5.

Glenn N. Nishizawa Memorial is offering a $4,000 & $2,000 scholarship to high school seniors planning to attend any
California State University, on a full time basis in the fall semester/quarter of 2011. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA or
higher, complete an essay “What is my Goal in Life,” official transcripts and a letter of recommendation from one teacher.
These awards must be used at any California State University. Please pick up an application in the Career Center. Deadline:
April 25, 2011

Repetto Elementary PTA Scholarship is offering a scholarship to a graduating seniors who graduated from Repetto
Elementary School. Criteria: Students must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0. Requirements: one-page educational goals
essay, copy of senior activity sheet, copy of transcript (unofficial). Please pick up an application in the Career Center.
Deadline: Wednesday, April 27, 2011 by 3pm in the Career Center. Return completed application package back to Mrs.
Marquez in the Career Center.

MKHS Alumni Association Cinke Art Scholarship is NOW available! Eligibility: minimum 2.85 GPA, two years of art
class at Mark Keppel High School and verification of enrollment at a college or university for the 2011 year. NOTE: An
electronic version of all documents and artwork (scanned documents/digital photography of artwork) must accompany the
original application. Electronic files in Word, Adobe (.pdf) and .jpg format are preferred. Deadline: All application
materials must be submitted to the Mark Keppel High School Career Center no later than May 1, 2011
Mark Keppel High School PTSA is offering 2 different scholarships. The PTSA Vocational Scholarship: criteria: 2.3 GPA
or higher, record of good citizenship, participate in school activities, intent to attend a 2-year college, trade school or business
school. PTSA Academic Scholarship: criteria: 3.0 GPA or higher, record of good citizenship, participate in school activities,
intent to attend a 4-year college or university. Applicant must be a current member of Mark Keppel P.T.S.A. Deadline: May
2, 2011 by 3:00pm
Alhambra Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual High School Scholarship. Eligibility: 3.0 GPA or better, proof
of acceptance & enrollment to an accredited four-year institution with a course load of 12 units. Applicant’s career goal should
be in the area of business or related study. Please pick up an application in the Career Center. Please return completed
application back to Mrs. Marquez in the Career Center. Deadline: Friday, May 6, 2011 by 3:00pm
Civil Service Employees Insurance Company ‘s Youth Automobile Safety Scholarship Program Applicant must be a
graduating high school senior and California resident, 3.0 GPA minimum, have been accepted to an accredited two- or fouryear college/university or trade school, the applicant’s parent or legal guardian must be currently employed full- time by or if
retired or deceased, must have been employed full-time by a government entity. This definition of public employee includes,
but is not limited to, peace officers; firefighters; educators; postal employees; military personnel; and federal, state and local
government workers. (CSE employees, employees’ relatives, and its agents and vendors are not eligible). Please pick up the
application in the Career Center. Deadline: May 13, 2011
Hana Uno Shepard Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Greater Los Angeles Singles JACL is offering a $1000
scholarship which may be applied to any college, university, community college, fine arts or vocational school. Applicant is
chosen based on scholastic merit, outside activities and general financial need. Eligibility: a graduating high school senior, a
member of a single-parent family, a resident of Los Angeles or Orange County and of Japanese ancestry. Please pick up the
application in the Career Center. Deadline: May 31, 2011
