Chief Resident responsibilities should include:
 Orientation of residents (off service residents and PGY-1
residents)
 Coordinating medical student teaching by residents
 Organizing resident-driven seminars (not core didactic
teaching)
 Serving on the Grand Rounds Committee
 Participating in End of Rotation Feedback sessions (off site)
 Organizing resident lunches
 Being a leader, advisor and mentor to residents
 Troubleshooting around resident issues
 Advocating on behalf of residents
 Collaborating with Postgraduate Coordinator and on-site staff
 Involvement in the selection and orientation of incoming Chief
Resident(s)
 Meeting with Psychiatrist-in-Chief around career development
 Attending PRAT Chief Resident meetings with Program
Director (4/year)
 Participating in Postgraduate Coordinators’/Chief Residents’
meetings (5/year)
 Ensuring due process when residents are involved in
remediation
