MWACSM SYMPOSIUM/ TUTORIAL SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
2015 MWACSM ANNUAL MEETING
November 6-7, 2015 at Grand Wayne Center, Ft. Wayne, IN
Symposium/Tutorial Submission Instructions:
1. There is no fee to submit a symposium or tutorial for the MWACSM Annual Meeting.
2. Symposium and tutorial submissions are only being accepted electronically.
a. Submissions for symposia/tutorials related to basic, applied and translational research must be
submitted no later than 5:00pm on June 30, 2015 (note this is an EXTENDED DEADLINE).
b. Submissions for clinical sessions and case study presentations must be submitted no later than
5pm on July 15, 2015.
3. Symposium and tutorial submission narratives are limited to 2 pages.
4. The title should be succinct and informative.
5. The first and last names of all presenters should be included with Fellows denoted by FACSM.
6. Institutional affiliations of all authors should also be identified.
7. The narrative must be informative, and should include the specific Purposes (in BOLD) as well as
learning objectives within the body of the narrative.
8. Information on the professional expertise of the presenters may also be included in the narrative.
9. Please note that a tutorial may focus on a single topic and include some type of “hands-on or
practical application” related to the topic. A symposium may be on a broader topic, and include
multiple presenters.
10. For the final program, if accepted; provide a headshot (picture in a jpeg file) and brief bio of no more
than 100 words for each author – will include author’s title and affiliation.
HOW TO SUBMIT THE ABSTRACT:
1. Submissions should be saved with the lead author’s last name (i.e., Smith.doc). Symposium/tutorial
submissions should be emailed to office@mwacsm.org with a copy to Paul Nagelkirk, Ph.D.
prnagelkirk@bsu.edu. Clinical submissions should be emailed to office@mwacsm.org with a copy to
Emily Stuart, M.D. at Emily.Stuart@nationwidechildrens.org.
2. The subject line should show MWACSM Symposium Submission, MWACSM Tutorial Submission, or
MWACSM Clinical Submission – (Lead Author’s Name).
3. Basic, applied, and translational Symposium and tutorial submissions should be received no later
than 5pm on June 30, 2015 (note this is an EXTENDED DEADLINE). Clinical submissions should be
received no later than 5pm on July 15, 2015.
CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT OF THE ABSTRACT, AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE SYMPOSIUM AND
TUTORIAL SUBMISSION:
1. The MWACSM Office will notify the lead author by email of receipt of submission within seven
business days.
2. Submissions will be forwarded to the MWACSM Annual Meeting Planning Committee for review.
3. As soon as the Committee has completed its work, the lead author will be emailed concerning the
acceptance of submission, and allocated time. For the 2015 MWACSM Annual Meeting, there are
approximately eight scheduled symposia/tutorials and clinical sessions. If a submission is not
accepted for presentation, the lead author will be contacted.
