Responses must be based on documented violations.
Programs selected must meet eligibility criteria.
To use the Response Grid:

Determine the level of violation seriousness and locate it on the horizontal axis of the grid.
Match the client’s risk level to risk level on vertical axis.
Locate the intersecting vertical and horizontal box. The number within box corresponds to the highest sanctioning level for the violation.
Probation Violation Misbehavior Level by Intensiveness / Restrictiveness
Minor:
Moderate:
Multiple minor violations with no apparent response to consequences

Truancy (missed 3 or fewer days in 1 month)

School disruption i.e. fighting, suspension (1)

Gang paraphernalia possession (for documented and/or
self-disclosed gang members)
Serious:
Behavior that demonstrates:
 Extreme disregard of probation conditions
 Failure to respond to the authority of the Court or
 Unauthorized contact with the victim.

Truancy (missed 4-9 days in 1 month)

School disruption i.e. fighting, suspensions (2 or more)


Truancy (10+ days in 1 month and/or dropped from enrollment)
Association w/ documented and/or self-disclosed non-family gang
members (1 instance)

School disruption: expelled

Failure to maintain contact with PO (2 missed contacts)

Failure to maintain contact with PO (3 missed contacts)


Association with documented and/or self-disclosed non-family gang members (2+ instances)
Curfew violations (1-2 in month) either per city ordinance or
parent/law enforcement/court order

Curfew violations (3-4 in month) either per city ordinance or parental/law
enforcement/court order

Failure to contact PO (3+ missed contacts)
Failure to notify PO about police contact with citation (1-2 in
month)

Absenting home without parental permission (24hrs – 48hrs) requires a
police report # for runaway report

Curfew violation (5+ in month) either per city ordinance or parental/law enforcement/court

following) i.e. meetings, groups, UA appt, court orders, imposed
probation restrictions, court ordered community based programs

Excessive use of alcohol or drugs (use resulting in hospitalization, detox, or arrest)

Violation of No Contact Order for certain places or persons (2 or more incidents)

Weapon possession (does not include guns) (1 incident)


