Tip of the Week
 Imagination, having a good mental picture of what it is like to
work in another department, is an effective way to improve
teamwork, smooth out the rough edges of communication, and
create a shared vision of serving the patient together regardless of
where you work.

Imagination and empathy also diffuse anger. The critical element
in effective anger management is empathy. Any time we can
imagine the situation from the other’s point of view, we lower our
own defenses and, in the process, defuse their anger. “Seek first to
understand, then to be understood.” (Stephen Covey, The Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People: restoring the Character Ethic)
THANK YOU!!!
Thank you to all who spent their Saturday helping with the Public Open
House!! It was a great success and we couldn’t have done it without
YOU!! OOA sincerely appreciates your dedication!

Did you know OOA has one of these?!
One of every four MR scans is ordered for an extremity—a wrist or a
knee, a hand or an ankle. While dedicated extremity systems make
patients comfortable, most lack the magnet strength to deliver
image quality that puts clinicians equally at ease. Harnessing the
power of a 1.5T magnet, the Optima MR430s is an extreme leap
forward in high quality, specialty MR imaging. Patients enjoy
superb comfort and radiologists get the image quality they need.
Added to a busy radiology department, the system can help relieve
backlogs and improve patient flow—providing a smart investment
with a low total cost-of-ownership.
Referral Calls
ALL- If you receive a call from a patient OR referring office
inquiring about a referral, please transfer them to the Registration
Department (Ext. 3551). They will be able to answer any questions
and look up information that may not be in the system yet. The
Registration Department has the most up to date information and
know where the referral is in process. We have received several
calls from referring offices that have gotten false information
regarding their referral. Thank you for your attention to this!

Tip of the Week
-If you are unsure of an answer, it is OK to tell the patient, “I am not sure
but let me find out for you.” It will put them at ease rather telling them, “I
don’t know” or giving them an answer that isn’t 100% correct. It also
shows that we care enough to find out the correct information AND we are
not giving them false information which looks bad on us.
-Always remember to let patients know about our social media pages
(Facebook: Olympia Ortho and Twitter: OlyOrtho) and their benefits. Up
to date info, announcements, photos, etc.
**Please remind patients that we will be closed Thursday and Friday for
the Thanksgiving Holiday

IMPORTANT- POWER OUTAGE AT WESTSIDE
On Saturday, December 1st, there will be at power outage at the Westside
building. At that time PSE will cut the power to the 3901 building and
some maintenance will be completed. What does that mean for Westside

scanners are shut down/turned off before you leave for the weekend. This
will prevent them from being suddenly shut off when the power goes
down. Your cooperation is much appreciated.
