Welcome! Join us for our annual Vasilopita Brunch following Divine Liturgy. Silent Auction of
Delicious Vasilopitas Accompanied by a scrumptious Brunch. Adults $6, Children $3, ages 12 and under.
Sponsored by St. Sophia Circle of the Ascension Cathedral Philoptochos. Proceeds to Benefit The Children
Of St. Basil Academy.
Liturgical Calendar
Divine Liturgies. Be sure to attend one of the two Divine Liturgies that celebrated the great Feast Day of
our Lord’s Baptism, Epiphany or Theophany. The Lord’s Baptism, Epiphany or Theophany. The Lord’s
divinity was first revealed by His submitting to baptism. He showed us the way to enter God’s Kingdom
through humbling Himself and accepting baptism at the hands of St. John the Baptist. Come receive nthe
blessings of the Epiphany waters:
Monday Evening, January 5th, 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy with Liturgical Choir followed by the
blessing of Waters.
Tuesday Morning, January 6th, 9:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy followed by the Blessing of Waters.
Wednesday, January 7th, 9:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy St. John the Baptist.
Parish Life
Many thanks to Brad and Georgia Cinto for donating 600 bottles for those wishing to bring the
Epiphany waters to their homes and fa.m.ilies.
Heartfelt prayers for our New Parish Council. Congratulations to the following men and women of
our Parish who have stepped forward to accept the mantle of leadership. Following their installation, they
will assemble to elect our new officers. God’s blessing upon them and us in our work to bring God’s

Prayers for mudslide victims and appeal for help. Archbishop Demetrios and Metropolitan Anthony
have asked for our prayers and donations to help the surviving fa.m.ilies of the tragic mudslide
at St. Sophia Ca.m.p in San Bernadino, CA. Jorge, the Ca.m.p Manager and his fa.m.ily were dearly beloved
by all ca.m.pers and members at St. Sophia Cathedral. Please make checks payable to Ascension Cathedral
and note on memo, “for mudslide victims.” We will forward all monies collected.

Godparent’s Sunday & 7th Grade Dedication. Guiding Us in Our New Life in Christ:
January 25th, 10:00 a.m. A wonderful luncheon will be served following the Divine Liturgy. Returning chef
Michael Vitakes will once again prepare a feast served fa.m.ily-style: salad, sliced marinated tri-tip beef with
roasted potatoes, vegetable medley and buttered pasta. Last year’s event was sold out, so be sure to get your
reservations in early! Tickets are $15 adults, $8 children (ages 7-17) and children ages 6 and under are free.

the na.m.es of the ten individuals who will be at your table.
Super Bowl Party! There’s No Better Place to Be on Sunday, February 1! Super Bowl Sunday is
becoming a tradition here at the Ascension Cathedral! The best seat in town is RIGHT HERE! Bring the
fa.m.ily and enjoy a relaxing (last) day of Football! Tickets are on sale $15 and $5 for Children under 12.
All you can eat BBQ buffet, activities for the kids, and fun stuff for the fan who is only interested in the
commercials! Food, Fun and a GIANT SCREEN! Why go anywhere else when you can watch the Raiders win
the Super bowl from our Community Center in Oakland?!!
