Wrestling Program/ Athlete Contract.
This contract is to ensure athlete's success in the sport of wrestling, and not only for
the individual, but for the team.
This contract must be read and understood before signing. This contract must be
signed and returned before any athlete will be allowed to practice or compete.
The athlete must be filled out and returned with the proper physical forms to the head
coach.
The athlete must wear the proper athletic wear. Shorts, t-shirt, socks, and appropriate
wrestling shoes.
If an athlete is not dressed out appropriately, then the athlete will not be allowed to
practice and will be marked as absent. This includes all athletic wear including shoes.
The athlete must attend all mandatory practices. The athlete will have three excused
absences. The excused absences must be one of the following: a death of a family
member, illness, midterm/final studies. The athlete must give the coach a hand-written
explanation of why a practice must be missed. It is solely up to the head coach to
decide if the absence is excused. All absences by the athlete must be made up in the
next attend practice.
Any three excused absences, one non-communicated or three tardiness will result in
an unexcused absence and a communication meeting to help remind the athlete about
the absence procedures. After the third unexcused absence, the athlete will then be
asked to have a parent teacher conference to see if he or she is allowed to wrestle for
the remainder of the season.
The athlete may e-mail the absence before practice begins, not after or during a
practice will an e-mail be accepted. This also goes for any written note. A written
note must be given to the head coach before practice begins.
Lack of respect (attitude, name calling) toward the team will result in early
dismissal from practice and will result in no competition for the next meet.
All unexcused absences during the week will result in no competition and count
as an unexcused absence.
All absences does not exclude he or she from his or her responsibilities of
making weight for the next competition even though he or she is not competing.
All athletes must wear the appropriate uniform and attire to all competition the
athlete is in in appropriate attire, then the athlete will be asked to fix the attire or
the athlete will be assigned an extra activity to help remind the athlete about the
appropriate attire in the next practice.
Appropriate and respectful behavior will be expected at all meets. If
inappropriate behavior is found by an athlete, the athlete may be removed from
the competition and/or from the team entirely.
All athletes must obey the student handbook provided by The Woodlands High
School.
All athletes must have a 70 or greater in order to compete.
All athletes must conduct themselves appropriately in all locker room and
school facilities or the athlete will be penalized by extra physical activity to help
remind the athlete about the appropriate conduct at the next practice.
All athletes must obey the head and assistant coaches demands and
expectations. All athletes must perform all outside practice conditioning
requirements set forth by the coach.
All wrestlers are expected to attend all meets to support the team and help
coaches and supporting staff with the meet. Helping is mandatory.
