Extended Enterprise Intelligence Platform

Supply chain professionals have always sought information they can trust. But the value of accurate, reliable information is evident only when it becomes intelligence. Supply chain intelligence allows you to frame the issues appropriately and drive towards optimal strategies and resolutions to supply chain events. With the right intelligence, procurement professionals can develop sourcing strategies, negotiate with suppliers, manage production changes, resolve inventory imbalances, and make purchasing decisions with confidence that their decisions will reduce costs, increase value, and manage risk.

PowerMarket Enterprise transforms supply chain facts into intelligence and insight. At the heart of the system is a powerful platform that captures information from diverse sources, inside and outside the company. Beyond mere reporting, the platform executes extraction, conversion, and translation routines in real time to transform raw data into focused information that supports decision-making. To streamline decision-making further, the platform filters information based on the responsibilities of the user, and delivers the appropriate analysis capabilities—including predictive alerts, on-demand reports, and advanced analytics—to address critical strategic and operational supply issues.

Visibility Into the Extended Supply Chain

With the intense interdependencies of businesses today, supply chain professionals need seamless insight into information from disparate internal systems, external partner systems, and marketplace data—in real time. To be valuable for decisionmaking, diverse data structures must be normalized and all information must be completely integrated to allow accurate analysis.

PowerMarket’s Extended Enterprise Intelligence Platform (EEIP) includes flexible and standards-based cleansing and normalizing techniques that transform internal and external information into formats that can be searched with simple queries and manipulated by advanced analytic routines. The platform integrates information from across the extended supply chain into a single repository that includes:

Internal Data—The platform performs data extraction to collect company information (production schedules, inventory levels, component requirements, end product demand, contract terms, direct materials spending) from across applications, business units, and geographies. Using extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), the platform also reads enterprise systems (SAP, Oracle,

Baan, i2, Manugistics) and major database servers (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server).

The platform also can import data from company spreadsheet and text files.

Partner Data—The platform integrates external data from supply and manufacturing partners and accesses any B2B communications layers or direct streams from other partners. Information can include component prices, price trends, availability, shipping notifications, and vendor performance—in XML,

HTML, flat file, or EDI format.

Market Data—A central repository—the PowerMarket Data Center—stores market information at the heart of the platform. This repository sits outside the company firewall and continually monitors and collects component data, price trend data and industry news and analysis from information providers, e-markets and exchanges, distributors, brokers, and other sources. The platform cleanses and normalizes all market data so you can use it right away to make decisions.

Platform Services

Too often traditional software lacks the capabilities you need to develop supply strategies, resolve inventory imbalances, respond to production changes, take advantage of savings opportunities, or deal with operational inefficiencies in procurement.

PowerMarket helps you do all of this in a single application, by integrating with and adding value to existing investments in enterprise systems. Platform services augment the integrated and normalized data with a powerful set of services, including analytics, alerting, reporting and workflow. With these capabilities, you can:

Understand—Intelligence derived from coherent information appears in alerts and reports that provide insight into business situations and guide procurement staff toward a better understanding of daily situations.

Monitor—Customized alerts notify decision-makers of tactical issues and present signs of strategic long-term trends. You can address exception conditions and adjust your strategy to improve supply chain performance. Over time, you can monitor key performance indicators to ensure improved performance of the supply chain.

Optimize—With what-if analysis and sophisticated tools (optimizers and simulators), the platform helps decision-makers determine the best course of action for improving their return on investment. By also incorporating financial engineering methodologies, these analytical services include portfolio management, risk management, and scenario modeling.

Act—The platform enables users to launch effective actions by connecting with other operational systems, and by providing specific recommendations for offline actions (for example, suggesting parameters for a supplier negotiation).

Measure— Closing the loop on decision-making, the platform allows you to measure the results of chosen strategies and actions, providing the feedback you need to evaluate strategic and tactical decisions. PowerMarket tracks financial and other key performance indicators so you can benchmark your improvements.
