- Granite Mountain Hot Shots Memorial Service SANTA BARBARA, Ca. July 8, 2013 – Seven members of the Santa Barbara County
Fire Department will be attending the Granite Mountain Hot Shot Memorial Service in
Prescott Arizona. A public memorial service is planned for the 19 firefighters killed in
the line of duty on June 30 while battling the Yarnell Hill wildfire.
The service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at Tim's Toyota Center,
located at 3201 N. Main Street, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. It is anticipated that 30
thousand people will be attending.
The men who made up the Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew, died when the fast-moving
wildfire overtook them. All had deployed their emergency fire shelters designed to
protect them in an emergency circumstance.
Upon returning to Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County Firefighter Tyler Gilliam will be
available for questions and interviews on Wednesday, July 10th in the afternoon, to share
his experience with the media.
Additionally, there is a memorial service planned for Sean Misner 26, of Santa Ynez.
The service will be held at Santa Ynez High School on July 15th. Details concerning the
service are still being finalized.
