months must be registered or re-registered
by 10 April each year.

The registration tag must be worn on the
collar at all times.
Concession
American Staffordshire Terriers are not
considered Restricted Breed Dogs providing
one of the following certificates are provided:
A pedigree certificate from the Australian
National Kennel Council;
A pedigree certificate from a member body of
the Australian National Kennel Council; A
pedigree Certificate from a national breed
council registered with the Australian National
Kennel Council or;
A certificate signed by a veterinary practitioner
stating that the dog is of a particular breed.
For entitlements to reduced registration fees the
owner of the animal must produce proof of
sterilisation, or pension concession card (Health
Care Card not accepted).
From 1 May 2007 all cats or dogs being

Identification registered with a Council for the first time must
be microchipped prior to registration. This

includes animals transferring from another
municipality. Documented proof of
microchipping details must be provided at
the time of registration.

The registration fee includes a State
Government Levy of $3.50 per dog and $2.00
per cat. This levy is used to fund responsible
pet ownership education programs.

Penalties
Apply to:
Owners of unregistered animals.
Owners of animals found wandering at large.
Owners of animals found not wearing a
current registration tag.
Local Laws
Council's Local Law No. 8 requires that:
Dog owners must remove excrement left by
their dog on nature strips and Council land.
Cats must be confined to owner’s property
from sunset to sunrise each day.
