Miss Nancy Lehman, 81, died at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Bechtel 4 ½ miles southeast of here, last Thursday night. She had been ill of dropsy
since June, 1944.
The daughter of Abraham and Eliza (Christophel) Lehman, she was born in Montpelier,
Ohio, in October, 1863. She came to Elkhart County in 1900 and since had made her
home with the Bechtels most of the time.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Bechtel are two other sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Fanny
Pocock and Miss Sarah Lehman, both of Angola, Jesse Lehman of Nappanee and Daniel
C. Lehman of Bryan, Ohio.
Miss Lehman was a member of the Yellow Creek Frame Mennonite church, where
funeral services were held at 2 pm Sunday. A prayer service was held at the Bechtel
home at 1:30. The Revs. William Ramer and Paul Hoover in charge. Burial in the
cemetery adjoining the church.
