Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for returning the Washington DC Overnight Fieldtrip Feedback Form and the required $50
deposit. The cost of the field trip will be $360.00. This will include all transportation, admission costs,
meals (except for a bagged lunch on the first day), and hotel costs. Your account has been credited with
the $50 deposit. For additional payments, please refer to the schedule below.

Final payments MUST be received by February 5, 2013. Payments made after that date will not be
accepted and refunds will not be possible after Hanes has made deposits to vendors. You are welcome
to pay your balance at any time prior to that date. Please make checks payable Hanes Magnet School
and include your child’s first and last name in the memo line. Payments can also be made Online School
Payment link on the Hanes website. Scholarship requests made prior to October 2 have been granted.
An itinerary is printed on the reverse side of this letter. As the trip approaches, you will receive additional
information about rooming, medical forms, and what to pack.

April 10-12, 15-17, 17-19, 2013
April 10/15/17
4:45 - Arrive at Thruway Shopping center and load buses.
5:15 - Depart for Washington, DC. (Eat breakfast snacks provided by school)
10:30 - Stop at rest area and eat lunch from home.
12:00 - Begin Tour of The Newseum.
2:30 - Walk to National Building Museum
2:45 - Begin docent guided tour of National Building Museum.
4:30 - Bus pick up and proceed to WWII Memorial. 4:45 - Tour WWII Memorial and walk along reflecting
pool to Vietnam, Lincoln and Korean memorials.
6:45 - Bus pick up at Korean Memorial and proceed to dinner at Old Country Buffet
8:15 - Depart for hotel. Check into Ramada Inn, Quantico, VA (703-221-1181)
April 11/16/18
6:30 - Wake up. Continental Breakfast at hotel.
7:45 - Depart for Washington, DC.
9:00 - Enter Natural History Museum. 9:15 – Begin planned Activities
11:30 - Lunch on the Mall ($10 each; provided by chaperones)
1:00 - Planned activities begin at National Air & Space Museum
4:00 - Bus pick up and drop off on 15th Street. Photo Ops of the white house and street shopping on 15th
street.
4:45 - Bus pick up and proceed to MLK Memorial and drop off.
5:00 - Visit MLK Memorial, walk along Tidal Basin to FDR and Jefferson Memorials.
6:15 - Bus pick up and depart for hotel.
7:30 - Pizza, salad, and drinks delivered to hotel conference room.
8:00 - Break into discussion groups.
April 12/17/19
6:00 - Wake up, continental breakfast, and load bus.
7:45 - Depart for Luray, VA.
10:00 - Begin tour of Luray Caverns followed by the Hedge Maze, the Car and Carriage Museum and
the gift shop.
12:30 - Stop for fast food lunch in Luray, VA. Options are Burger King, McDonalds, KFC, and Long John
Silvers. ($10 each; provided by chaperones)
1:30 - Depart for home.
6:30 - Arrive back at Thruway Shopping Center.
