Sponsored Key Club District Scholarship
Philosophy
This scholarship is designed to provide recognition and financial assistance to individual
members of Key Clubs who have excelled in Key Club activities within district, school
and community.
Award Amounts
The amounts of the scholarships are: Erling M. Larsen Award $1,000; Joe & Marion
Epler Award $1,000; Founding Director’s Award $1,000; Emeritus Director Award
$1,000; Sylvester Neal Award $1,000; Pacific Northwest Foundation Award $1,000 and
Pacific Northwest Foundation/Kiwanis International Foundation Matching Scholarships
at $500.00 each. (Matching Funds – Each year our District is eligible for multiple
matching scholarships based on the amount of our Kiwanis donation to the Annual Gift
Campaign thru the Kiwanis International Foundation.)
At least one PNW District scholarship will be awarded each year to a Key Club member
outside of Oregon and Washington. The Foundation reserves the right to readjust
this distribution.

Applicants must be an active member for two years and be in good standing with
their home club, district, and International.
Has paid dues and appear on the roster on file at Key Club International.
Is a graduating high school senior.
Is a college, university, technical, or vocational school-bound student.
Has grade point average of at least a “B” average or the equivalent of a 3.0 on a
4.0 scale.
Has attached an official high school transcript with an explanation of the grading
system utilized.
Submits the District application and the backup information to the Pacific
Northwest Kiwanis Foundation Chair by the deadline established by the district.

Application Procedures
1.
All applicants must submit the following:
(a)
The application form.
(b)
Key Club offices and leadership events; selected or appointed positions at
the club, district or International level. Also list any district/International
conventions, training conferences, or leadership events attended.
(c)
Campus organization and activities.
(d)
Religious and community activities.

Honors, awards and special recognition.
One (1) letter of recommendation that describes your leadership ability
from a Kiwanis Club member or community leader, or religious leader.
One (1) letter from your Key Club advisor verifying your leadership and
listed activities.
The reference letters must be no more than two (2) pages in length, and
they must be original letters that are dated and signed by your references.
Attach a certified copy of your official high school transcript with an
explanation of the grading process utilized at the school.
All of the above must be included with your application, to be considered.
The applications and letters listed above must be submitted to Pacific Northwest
Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship Chair, Margie Wilson, 1504 Melissa Way,
Wenatchee, Wa. 98801. The application must be postmarked no later than
February 1st.

A committee from the Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation will determine the
winners of each scholarship.
All scholarships are provided in the form of checks issued to the college or
university. The school will need to verify your enrollment with a confirmation
letter, sent to Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation, Mike Mohan, Treasurer,
106 N. Main Street, Prineville, Oregon 97754.
All checks will be sent directly to the school for deposit into the student’s
account and most likely will require the student to endorse the check.
Checks are disbursed in August by the Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation
Treasurer after confirmation of enrollment.
Recipients of Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Scholarships are announced at the Key
Club District Convention.
All application materials received by the Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation
shall become its property and will not be returned.
The Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation Board reserves the right not to make
an award if, in the Board’s judgment, there are no qualified applicants.
