ART BASEL IS ROCKING AT GAB STUDIO - ARTISTS ROLAND RUOCCO AND
WENDY WHITE ARE EXHIBITING NEW PIECES FROM THEIR “MODERN TIMES”
AND “ABSTRACT IMPRESSIONIST” SERIES
Miami, Florida (November 28, 2015) – Artists Roland Ruocco and Wendy White are officially
opening their Art Basel show with a kick-off opening party this Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from
6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at GAB Studio, 225 NW 26th Street, Wynwood, Miami, FL 33127. Their
exhibition, “Modern Times” runs from December 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015.
“Modern Times” series is a collection punctuated with social and political commentary. Ruocco uses a
variety of painting styles and mixed media. These social and political works depict fear, complacency,
omnipotence and the need for peace, love and brotherhood.
States Roland Ruocco; “As a result from working for several years in old factory building studios in the
DUMBO and Williamsburg districts of Brooklyn, coupled with their close proximity to the East Village in
Manhattan I was exposed to artistic styles and mind sets, some of which are reflected in this Social and
Political series of paintings that speak about American culture from a historic current and futuristic point of
view, using shock, satire and humor to portray awe and outrage at the extent of waste and complacency in
modern society. Driving home the simple reality that no matter how important some humans and some of
their institutions may appear they are invariably overshadowed and undermined by their blatant limitations
and their utter absurdity. These paintings intended to be courageous timeless statements often incorporate
illustrative comic book, graffiti and more traditional painting styles.”
Ruocco and White are South Florida based artists with a working studio in Lauderdale by the Sea. Their
work can be previewed on his website www.newlightgallery.org and www.rolandruocco.com
Ms. White exhibits in galleries in New York City, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Finland, Buenos Aires
and Switzerland; having sold over 160 canvases with over 280 exhibitions. Highlighted by a governmentsponsored show in Copenhagen, Denmark where she exhibited 40 new canvases. Wendy White states;
“My goal is to paint with oils until the canvas illuminates light itself. Using the medium of oils and glazes,
I strive to achieve a resonance of light that the "Old Masters" utilized in the Impressionist era.”
Original paintings, drawings, limited editions and commissioned projects are available at their New Light
Studio in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Please call 954.829.0638 or e-mail r2w2@comcast.net for more
