She likes to move a lot during the lesson . She is a kinesthetic learner. She has developed a habit of leaving her seat and rooming around during the written assignments. I will use the following behavior plan to motivate her to change her behavior . Start Date for Intervention : 15/4/2009 ( end of week 3 ( Intervention : The plan is Adapted from book of Teacher 's Encyclopedia of Behavior Management page 506/plan D. The following steps were considered the basic behavior management plan: 1. Talk with the whole class about what my expectations are while doing a written work (end of week 3). 2. Count and draw a tally which will show me the girl's incidents when being out of seat (during the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3). 3. Respond consistently to the inappropriate behavior : a. I will sit with the girl and talk about what I expect from her to do while doing written work .(end of week 3 ) b. The girl and I will decide on private signal to tell her that she has to go back to her seat.(end of week 3 ) . 4. Develop a plan to reinforce the appropriate behavior : a. Praise her in front of all class for sitting on her seat . Texas A&M university Qatar university b. I will sit with her and create a list of rewards she can earn with the appropriate behavior . c. I will write on cards rewards she likes to earn. Then ,I will price each reward with certain number of coins . N.M Will start her day with certain number of coins in a jar .Whenever , I give her the signal I will remove a coin from a jar. At the end of the day she will count the coins and see what reward she can earn. 5. Lastly, I will implement a consequence of time owned. When the girl will loose all the tickets I will check the time between giving her the signal and being back to her seat . Then I will detect that time from her break .e.g. if she takes 3 minutes to sit back then she will loose 3 minutes from next recess or in the afternoon . Results of Intervention: - I have started my plan with talking with the whole class. I explained for them how I expected them to behave during a written assignments . Moreover , I model how they should behave . - I counted how many times N.M was out of her seat during week 2 and the beginning of week 3 . - Towards the end of week 3 I talked with N.M .We agreed on a private signal that tells her she needs to go back to her seat . - I have started my intervention on the beginning of week 4 . -Ask positive reinforcement I used praising the girl whenever she sits on her chair . - I was consistent , and I used the private signal whenever she was out of her seat .Giving a private signal to N.M helped a lot and she really felt special to the teacher and she started to respond . - I started with N.M and asked her what are her favorite rewards she likes to earn . We wrote those rewards down and then priced them with number Texas A&M university Qatar university of coins .I explained for her how she will start her day with 15 coins and that whenever I give her the sign I will remove a coin. - I started the plan and I asked her to count the coins at the end of the day and then see what prize she will earn. - N.M responds to the plan and she likes the idea of the jar and the rewards . She tried her best to earn the biggest reward by sitting nicely on her seat while doing the written assignments .The change of the behavior can be seen in the chart . I counted the undesired behavior during week 4 and I conclude a decrease in the number. - since the plan went well and the girl start to respond ,I will not apply the last step in it (5)which is time owed out . - I am satisfied with this plan . I think it works well. I didn't have a chance to apply it on week 5 since the students went for vacation . I will go on and continue with it throughout week 6 to achieve my goal .
