Paralon Warm Roof System with Extensive Green Roof.
Project Title : Valhalla Sheltered Housing Scheme.
Location : Clondalkin, Dublin.
Project Brief : Provide Paralon warm roof build up followed by the installation of an Extensive Green
Roof with Pre Cultivated Sedum Blanket on Flat concrete deck roofs, with high efficiency thermal
insulation layer to facilitate A+ Energy Rating.
Specifier : South Dublin County Council Architects , Dublin.
Main Contractor; Ganson Ltd.
Roofing Contractor: Bidcon Ltd. Clonsilla, Dublin.
Notes : The construction was a new build with concrete decks to the flat roofs installed with a
significant insulation thickness to achieve the high thermal performance standard achieved
throughout the building, which featured many construction materials utilised in the construction of
zero carbon sustainable buildings. The membrane throughout the project is Root Resistant to FLL
Guidelines.
Thermal Insulation was achieved using multi layered insulation board which has a BREEAM A+ rating.
The building is to be equipped with a solar hot water heating system and a bank of Photovoltaic
collectors.
Upon completion, the waterproofing was subject to both Thermographic Testing and Electrical
Resistivity Testing to identify any potential points of damage.
The entire system was expertly installed by Bidcon Roofing Ltd.
May 2012 Vapour Barrier Installed the building is Water Tight.
Sept. 2012 the Insulant and Waterproofing Layers are Installed.
Feb. 2013 The Sedum Roof is Installed.
