 Introduce Green Roof concept to commercial structures/property owners

Next Steps:
 Push city to create/approve Watershed Plan which will require DEQ approval to
gain access to funding. City in process of writing Watershed Plan.
How can Allen Neighborhood Center or Lansing Parks and Recreation Help?
 Not certain yet. I will need to read through DEQ materials to understand how &
when to pull others into process. Everyone may need to get involved in pushing
city on Watershed Plan

 Purchase seeds, fertilizer and lawn & garden equipment at lower costs through
state contracts with MI Deal. City of Lansing buys and passes through to the nonprofit.

Project Idea:
 Clean Sweep program. Annual/Semi-annual? Coordinated location for drop off of
unwanted chemicals, pesticides, other toxic substances.
 Could include tires, scrap metal, wood, useable clothing/furniture, and general
recycling items.
 Also, pick up service – volunteers (trained) visit seniors at their homes to review
& collect these items (especially chemicals/toxics) to dispose of. This way,
seniors won’t have to deal with, handle, transport, etc. Could have huge impact
environmentally and be catalyst for entire city.
