Analysis of PCBs and HCB in treated final effluent of Japanese paper mills
Government of Japan
June, 2, 2006
We analyzed polychlorinated biphenyl (PCBs) and hexachlorobenzene (HCB) in treated final
effluent of four paper mills in 2005. Table 1 shows the results of the analysis.
When it is high-precision(ex. When determination limit is 1 pg/L), HCB and PCBs may be
detected in treated final effluent of paper mills. But the formation and release of HCB and PCBs
are less understood from this potential source.
