When to Send a Patient for Wound Care Services
If your patient is experiencing chronic or non-healing wounds, we can help. These types of wounds can
be caused by diabetes, vascular disease (arterial, venous, lymphatic, vasculitis), radiation therapy,
surgery, trauma, burns or pressure. Chronic non-healing wounds may result in life-threatening
infections, amputation or debilitating health problems.
Many types of wounds can be treated at the DeKalb Medical Comprehensive Wound Care Center. Some
of these include:

Diabetic foot ulcers
Arterial ulcers – wounds caused by poor circulation
Venous stasis ulcers – wounds caused by varicose veins
Vasculitic ulcers – wounds cause by autoimmune illnesses
Radiation injuries
Non-healing surgical sites
Traumatic wounds
Burns
Pressure ulcers

but also to preserve limbs and prevent wound recurrence. We use the most advanced wound care
procedures available, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, to heal chronic wounds, reduce suffering and
improve quality of life. Care is supervised by board-certified infectious disease specialists and nurses
specifically trained in wound care procedures and management.
