Happy News: CarolAnn is three times happy that it is the 20th
anniversary of Chad & Eric’s arrival; Nancy Neilson, former
member, will be coming back to the Deptford Club; She has
booked a March vacation for Mike and herself. Governor Al is
happy that we invited his wife to join us today. Joyce is happy
that her grandson completed a semester for his Masters degree and
maintained a 4.0 average.
Presentations: CarolAnn presented Ted E. Bear to Governor Al
to throw on the ice at the Phantoms game. Sandy presented the
club with a check for $560 from the Broadway theatre for group
purchase of tickets. Tom presented the Vocational Award from
the club to TIM KERNAN.
Program: Governor Al spoke on several Rotary Programs. He
reminded us that he is Bill Boyd’s representative. The message
from RI President Bill is to remind us how to conduct ourselves as
Rotarians – “Lead The Way”. Gov. Al also spoke about the
March Madness Banquet to be held April 27, 2007 at Lucien’s
Manor, Berlin. This will honor clubs that meet goals of Rotary
Foundation. Brazil GST trip by Gov. Al is near & dear to his
heart. Rotary has provided a bus for Breast Cancer screening and
eye car to check for cataracts. He is anxious to build a school in
Brazil. Mike presented a check from the club to Governor Al for
the school.
Announcements: Pam announced the club’s Sweetheart of A
Deal for February. The Club will match funds to Paul Harris.
Paul spoke about a family who has requested help from “Building
Together”. This is the second year for their request, they were not
chosen for help last year. The last Saturday in April is building
day. The Woodbury family has requested help to build an
addition to their home with a bathroom on the first floor for their
handicap son. It is Paul’s hope to obtain further help for this
family.
