WIND ENSEMBLE UNT CONTEST & SIX FLAGS TRIP
FRIDAY, MAY 6 – ALL DAY EVENT
Wind Ensemble Students and Parents,
The Wind Ensemble will be competing in a Peak Music Festival hosted at the University
of North Texas. This is an exciting opportunity for the students to perform in this
incredible venue! After the UNT contest, the students will head to Six Flags to celebrate
this year’s accomplishments!
Each student must turn in $20 along with their signed permission form by Wednesday,
May 4! Checks made payable to: Byron Nelson Band Boosters. The permission form and
$20 should be turned in to Mrs. Kahler in the envelope provided.
Agenda for the day:
7:45 AM – Arrive at Tidwell Band Hall in concert uniform, Short Warm Up, Load buses
9:00 AM – Arrive at UNT and head to Warm Up Room
9:55 AM – Stage Performance
10:15 AM – Group Picture then load buses to head back to Tidwell
11:30 AM – Arrive at Tidwell, Change Clothes, Eat Lunch
12:30 PM – Meet in Band Hall, Load buses to head to Six Flags
1:30 PM – Arrive at Six Flags, park opens at 2 PM
2:00-6:45 PM - Six Flags – While at Six Flags, students will have to check in with
directors/chaperones at 4:00 PM at the chaperone station. At 6:45 PM everyone meets
back at chaperone station and heads to the buses as a group.
8:00-8:30 PM – Arrive at Tidwell, Parents pick students up in back parking lot
Important Info:





Students must be passing ALL classes to participate in this event!
Students are responsible for making up any class work missed on Friday, May 6.
Each student must turn in $20 along with their permission form signed by a parent
by Wednesday, May 4!
You must be dressed in full concert attire (black dress or tux with appropriate
black dress shoes) when you show up to school on Friday morning. Bring a
change of clothes – school dress code enforced/appropriate for walking around at
Six Flags. You will change clothes at Tidwell after your UNT performance.
You will be eating lunch at Tidwell, but you may want to bring money for snacks
and other purchases at Six Flags.
PARENTS INTERESTED IN CHAPERONING SHOULD EMAIL MRS. KAHLER ASAP. WE
NEED 10 PARENT CHAPERONES. The only expense for chaperones is food. Make sure you
have your volunteer background check completed! You can find that on the Tidwell MS website.
