PRIME FUNCTION / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To contribute to the clinical and laboratory based research activities in the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine.

BRIEF STATEMENT OF DUTIES

1. The Fellow is expected to contribute to ongoing research activities in the department and to undertake independent research under the supervision of Professor Paech. He / she will be encouraged to register for a higher degree at UWA.

2. The Fellow will be involved in clinical activities in the department. .

3. The Fellow will provide senior registrar cover in obstetric and gynaecological anaesthesia, including out of hours services.

4. Fellows are expected to attend and actively participate in as many hospital meetings and lectures as possible.

5. Assist with undergraduate teaching of Medical Students.

Qualification in medicine registrable by the medical board in Western Australia.

Appropriate clinical experience in obstetric and gynaecological anaesthesia.

FANZCA or equivalent, or advanced anaesthetic trainee.

Commitment to training in academic anaesthesia medicine.

Good interpersonal and professional communication skills.

Able to work effectively as a team member.

Able to teach at both postgraduate and undergraduate level.

Able to initiate and manage original research in anaesthesia.

Current knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements in the areas of Equal Opportunity,

Disability Services and Occupational Safety & Health, and how these impact on employment, people management and service delivery.

APPOINTMENT FACTORS: Evidence of registration by the Medical Board of Western Australia must be provided prior to commencement. This position is subject to a successful Criminal

This position is also subject to a Working With Children (WWC) Check. This is a compulsory check for people who carry out child-related work in Western Australia.
