Once again the association would not be as successful as it is without the tireless work of the Executive Committee, the administration staff, the many volunteers who help out at different levels and of course the continued work of our Club officials and members. Our administrative staff, consisting of Anne McCartin, Kerryn Drew and Jo Dash, are responsible for getting our games on the court each week by organising and notifying clubs of draws and games, completing ladders for finals, answering the many telephone calls, emails and queries that come in each day, liaising with Netball Victoria to arrange coaching and umpiring courses and we continue to be in touch with the Ballarat City Council for the future development of our courts. Many thanks to these ladies for their hard work in keeping our association running so smoothly. Each year we depend on people to step up and volunteer for positions, such as, supervising the various competitions, coaching and managing squad teams, assisting with umpiring and guiding our young umpires with their future development. Thank you to all those people who help out with these positions. We are very fortunate within the Ballarat Netball Association to have club administrators of the highest standard. These dedicated volunteers put in many hours to get their club members on the court each week. Thank you sincerely for your continued support of our association. We continue to appreciate the support of our teams at all levels. Your enthusiasm and competitiveness as you play your games ensures that our competitions will continue to grow and improve. I would like to congratulate Dela Assuntas for wining the Athletes Foot Cup Premiership for the 11th consecutive year. Tuesday night continues to be a show case for our top netballers and all teams are to be congratulated for their standard of play at each level. For us to continue to have the standard of netball we have come to expect we must have umpires to officiate at our games. Thank you to those who answer the call each week to umpire our games. I encourage anyone who is a badged umpire or interested in learning how to umpire, speak to the supervisors and see how you can further develop your umpiring skills. Coaches, Managers, Umpires and Players of our squad teams are to be congratulated for the time they put into representing our association. Many hours are put into training, playing at different tournaments and the time taken in travelling to these venues. We are very proud of the way you represent The Ballarat Netball Association. A big thank you to the parents for your commitment in transporting and supporting your girls as members of our squad teams. You will continue to notice improvements to the stadium, courts and surrounding areas. We are aware of the importance of keeping our facilities user friendly for all who pass through our doors. Finally I would like to thank the members of our Executive Committee for their continued dedication in the organisation of the Ballarat Netball Association. To Annie, Reet, Jo. Anne, Leena and Emma a sincere thank you for all your support and congratulations on the work you have done and continue to do for the association. I wish the incoming committee all the best for 2014 and I know the Ballarat Netball Association will continue to grow and develop in the future. Sue Purves Umpire’s Report Development of umpires is vital to netball and as Ballarat Netball Association is the centre of netball in the Central Highlands Region, education and opportunities are always available. Junior umpires are mentored and trained by experienced Umpire Educators who ensure that juniors are encouraged to continue by providing suitable healthy environments, nurturing support and opportunity. Seniors are encouraged to take up the whistle and receive regular feedback in an encouraging environment. 2013 saw a number of C Grade Badges awarded with several young umpires actively encouraged to work towards their B Grade in 2014. Ballarat Netball Association hosted 2 Level 1 Umpiring Courses and the Beginners Workshops for any netballer in the Region to attend. Coaches Report Ballarat Netball Association has encouraged and developed many active progressive and enthusiastic coaches who can be seen court side both here and at netball courts all across the Region every week. Ballarat Netball Association hosted a Foundation Course and followed this up with the next level Development Course during 2013. The workshops for beginner coaches were conducted alongside the umpires by Ballarat Netball Association and again for any netballer in the Region. It is our aim to produce more qualified local coaches to take on the challenges of coaching at VNL level in the future.
